Palisades have been used as field defense and as protection for camps since the dawn of history, and were common until (and including) the ACW, when artillery so powerful was developed that such defenses become obsolete.
That makes them one of the most common sight in any battlefield where some form of fortification was used, for a period spanning thousands of years. They were commonly employed by the ancient Greeks, the Persians, the Gauls, the Romans, the Carthaginians, the Goths, the Franks, the Vikings, by nearly everyone throughout all Middleages, the Renaissance, the ECW, the AWI and in the Napoleonic wars, just to mention a few!
This straight section is designed as part of the ALESIA modular system and include a standard 60mm frontage DBM TF base. The plain cast stands approximately 35mm tall at the top and 22mm at the opening including the base which makes it perfectly sized for 25mm and 28mm games. It comes in two assorted versions, both with transversal supports in the back. The system also includes an alternative version and a corner piece of no internal frontage that allows elements to be joined at 90 degrees.
